Page 230 This age- Gauri Mahalla 3- ਇਸੁ ਜੁਗ ਕਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਪੜਹੁ ਤੁਮ ਭਾਈ ॥ Learn the Dharma of this age, O Siblings of Destiny; ਪੂਰੈ ਗੁਰਿ ਸਭ ਸੋਝੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ all understanding is obtained from the Perfect Guru. ਐਥੈ ਅਗੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮੁ ਸਖਾਈ ॥੧॥ Here and hereafter, the Lord's Name is our Companion. ||1|| ਰਾਮ ਪੜਹੁ ਮਨਿ ਕਰਹੁ ਬੀਚਾਰੁ ॥ Learn of the Lord, and contemplate Him in your mind. ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦੀ ਮੈਲੁ ਉਤਾਰੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ By Guru's Grace, your filth shall be washed away. ||1||Pause|| ਵਾਦਿ ਵਿਰੋਧਿ ਨ ਪਾਇਆ ਜਾਇ ॥ Through argument and debate, He cannot be found. ਮਨੁ ਤਨੁ ਫੀਕਾ ਦੂਜੈ ਭਾਇ ॥ The mind and body are made insipid through the love of duality. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਸਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਇ ॥੨॥ Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, lovingly attune yourself to the True Lord. ||2|| ਹਉਮੈ ਮੈਲਾ ਇਹੁ ਸੰਸਾਰਾ ॥ This world is polluted with egotism. ਨਿਤ ਤੀਰਥਿ ਨਾਵੈ ਨ ਜਾਇ ਅਹੰਕਾਰਾ ॥ By taking cleansing baths daily at sacred shrines of pilgrimage, egotism is not eliminated. ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਭੇਟੇ ਜਮੁ ਕਰੇ ਖੁਆਰਾ ॥੩॥ Without meeting the Guru, they are tortured by Death. ||3|| ਸੋ ਜਨੁ ਸਾਚਾ ਜਿ ਹਉਮੈ ਮਾਰੈ ॥ Those humble beings are true, who conquer their ego. ਗੁਰ ਕੈ ਸਬਦਿ ਪੰਚ ਸੰਘਾਰੈ ॥ Through the Word of the Guru's Shabad, they conquer the five thieves. ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਸਗਲੇ ਕੁਲ ਤਾਰੈ ॥੪॥ They save themselves, and save all their generations as well. ||4|| ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਨਟਿ ਬਾਜੀ ਪਾਈ ॥ The Actor has staged the drama of emotional attachment to Maya. ਮਨਮੁਖ ਅੰਧ ਰਹੇ ਲਪਟਾਈ ॥ The self-willed manmukhs cling blindly to it. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਅਲਿਪਤ ਰਹੇ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਈ ॥੫॥ The Gurmukhs remain detached, and lovingly attune themselves to the Lord. ||5|| ਬਹੁਤੇ ਭੇਖ ਕਰੈ ਭੇਖਧਾਰੀ ॥ The disguisers put on their various disguises. ਅੰਤਰਿ ਤਿਸਨਾ ਫਿਰੈ ਅਹੰਕਾਰੀ ॥ Desire rages within them, and they carry on egotistically. ਆਪੁ ਨ ਚੀਨੈ ਬਾਜੀ ਹਾਰੀ ॥੬॥ They do not understand themselves, and they lose the game of life. ||6|| ਕਾਪੜ ਪਹਿਰਿ ਕਰੇ ਚਤੁਰਾਈ ॥ Putting on religious robes, they act so clever, ਮਾਇਆ ਮੋਹਿ ਅਤਿ ਭਰਮਿ ਭੁਲਾਈ ॥ but they are totally deluded by doubt and emotional attachment to Maya. ਬਿਨੁ ਗੁਰ ਸੇਵੇ ਬਹੁਤੁ ਦੁਖੁ ਪਾਈ ॥੭॥ Without serving the Guru, they suffer in terrible pain. ||7|| ਨਾਮਿ ਰਤੇ ਸਦਾ ਬੈਰਾਗੀ ॥ Those who are attuned to the Naam, the Name of the Lord, remain detached forever. ਗ੍ਰਿਹੀ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਸਾਚਿ ਲਿਵ ਲਾਗੀ ॥ Even as householders, they lovingly attune themselves to the True Lord. ਨਾਨਕ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਸੇਵਹਿ ਸੇ ਵਡਭਾਗੀ ॥੮॥੩॥ O Nanak, those who serve the True Guru are blessed and very fortunate. ||8||3|| Page 797 All ages- Bilaval Mahalla 3- ਪੂਰਾ ਥਾਟੁ ਬਣਾਇਆ ਪੂਰੈ ਵੇਖਹੁ ਏਕ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥ The perfect Lord has fashioned the Perfect Creation. Behold the Lord pervading everywhere. ਇਸੁ ਪਰਪੰਚ ਮਹਿ ਸਾਚੇ ਨਾਮ ਕੀ ਵਡਿਆਈ ਮਤੁ ਕੋ ਧਰਹੁ ਗੁਮਾਨਾ ॥੧॥ In this play of the world, is the glorious greatness of the True Name. No one should take pride in himself. ||1|| ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀ ਜਿਸ ਨੋ ਮਤਿ ਆਵੈ ਸੋ ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਮਾਹਿ ਸਮਾਨਾ ॥ One who accepts the wisdom of the True Guru's Teachings, is absorbed into the True Guru. ਇਹ ਬਾਣੀ ਜੋ ਜੀਅਹੁ ਜਾਣੈ ਤਿਸੁ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਰਵੈ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥ The Lord's Name abides deep within the nucleus of one who realizes the Bani of the Guru's Word within his soul. ||1||Pause|| ਚਹੁ ਜੁਗਾ ਕਾ ਹੁਣਿ ਨਿਬੇੜਾ ਨਰ ਮਨੁਖਾ ਨੋ ਏਕੁ ਨਿਧਾਨਾ ॥ Now, this is the essence of the teachings of the four ages: for the human race, the Name of the One Lord is the greatest treasure. ਜਤੁ ਸੰਜਮ ਤੀਰਥ ਓਨਾ ਜੁਗਾ ਕਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਕਲਿ ਮਹਿ ਕੀਰਤਿ ਹਰਿ ਨਾਮਾ ॥੨॥ Celibacy, self-discipline and pilgrimages were the essence of Dharma in those past ages; but in this Dark Age of Kali Yuga, the Praise of the Lord's Name is the essence of Dharma. ||2|| ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਆਪੋ ਆਪਣਾ ਧਰਮੁ ਹੈ ਸੋਧਿ ਦੇਖਹੁ ਬੇਦ ਪੁਰਾਨਾ ॥ Each and every age has its own essence of Dharma; study the Vedas and the Puraanas, and see this as true. ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਜਿਨੀ ਧਿਆਇਆ ਹਰਿ ਹਰਿ ਜਗਿ ਤੇ ਪੂਰੇ ਪਰਵਾਨਾ ॥੩॥ They are Gurmukh, who meditate on the Lord, Har, Har; in this world, they are perfect and approved. ||3|| Page 1188 One Dharma- Basant Mahalla 1- ਏਕੋ ਧਰਮੁ ਦ੍ਰਿੜੈ ਸਚੁ ਕੋਈ ॥ There is only one religion of Dharma; let everyone grasp this truth. ਗੁਰਮਤਿ ਪੂਰਾ ਜੁਗਿ ਜੁਗਿ ਸੋਈ ॥ Through the Guru's Teachings, one becomes perfect, all the ages through. ਅਨਹਦਿ ਰਾਤਾ ਏਕ ਲਿਵ ਤਾਰ ॥ Imbued with the Unmanifest Celestial Lord, and lovingly absorbed in the One, ਓਹੁ ਗੁਰਮੁਖਿ ਪਾਵੈ ਅਲਖ ਅਪਾਰ ॥੪॥ The Gurmukh attains the invisible and infinite. ||4||
